Prayer Request
I thought I'd pass along this letter. Thanks for letting me know about this Allegra.
Hi all
With a heavy heart, I need to inform you that one of our coworkers from a sister organization was abducted this morning in our Kabul neighborhood. Her name is Kristina Meier. She was taken from her vehicle that her husband Thomas was driving. They were stopped, she was taken and he was left in the vehicle unharmed. Kristina is 5 months pregnant with their first child.Becca and I were fellow students in language school with Kristina and Thomas this spring.
This obviously is extremely serious, not only for Kristina and Thomas, but for the hundreds of like-minded workers here in our area of Kabul. We have to sort things out and hear what the government and US/NATO military intelligence knows about this, but it appears that the word is out on the street that the Koreans are willing to pay millions for their kidnapped victims.
This means criminal elements are ever more on the prowl for opportunities here in Kabul. We will not know the fallout from this for several days. It defies cultural norms because women and children are a cultural untouchable here. What they did is extremely shameful for any Afghan. Please get people praying for Kristina and Thomas and for the significant kingdom work that is now in great jeopardy in this land.
Thank you
Kelly and Becca
