Thoughts on Proverbs part 1
Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who hurries his footsteps errs. (Proverbs 19:2 NASB)
Try applying this to your relationships. Don't rush ahead rashly, trying to take things into your own hands. I've done that and made a fool out of myself. It hurts you and others. If only we'd stop being so selfish. If only we'd make sure of our path before we ran down it.
In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. (Proverbs 14:23 NASB)
Sometimes we beat around the bush making decisions, instead of just taking a leap of faith. Choosing the right college was a battle that ended only a little while before September. Taking the financial leap was daunting, but the grant came only after I'd jumped. There is wisdom in counsel, but sometimes enough has been said, and it is time to obey. In all labor, or action, there is at least a bit of profit even if it's only a prolonged way of finding out that you made the wrong choice, but endless discussion is fruitless.
So we must reach a balance between these two principles. I believe it can be summed up this way, "Don't jump before you know enough to determine a direction, but don't wait around for all the mist to clear." There is an element of faith and prudence working together.
God bless you all,
